In July, after VBS was over, our family had the joy of returning back to the Toledo, OH area where Eric grew up. This was Eric's first time, me and the kids second time back since we moved to MS! That's a long time!
Eric's parents with Sue's sister, Aunt Carol and Uncle Dick...they came down from Michigan to spend the day with us.
In Findlay, at the "train station" = Stanley's heaven
Riding with Memaw and Papaw on the choo-choo!
Breakfast with Papaw overlooking to make sure the correct amount of cookies or sugar were given. This Papaw was relentless, 2 minutes before bed, he's giving the kids cookies. For breakfast, whenever they want. I'm ok with that, I guess that's why you go to your grandparent's! :)
We enjoyed swimming at their pool everyday! It was a perfect week for swimming -- HOT! It made the pool like bath water! Here the kids are slurping on their daily popsicle! The kids really improved their swimming skills since we got to swim so much!
We also enjoyed a visit from our dear OH friends, the Blues! We went to the Toledo Zoo for several hours one day (we didn't stay all day since it was so hot!)...we went home to swim with all the kids! The Blues are wonderful parents who have FOUR kids (in the middle), and then our kids on the outside...we like to say when we are together, we are a walking abstinence commercial. It tends to be crazy and fun when we are all together!
All of us on the train safari at the zoo
Movie and popcorn down in the basement where we also held dance parties that Stanley learned from the Blues kids. Stanley even got Papaw and Memaw to join in the dance party!
Stanley and Memaw's regular morning activity...playing and reading on Memaw's nooks in bed...no wonder they like to go to their grandparent's!
We enjoyed going to the children's museum and parks and playing games; our last night, somehow the adults got dragged into playing monopoly...it got a little competitive at the end, but it was fun nonetheless, an oldie but goodie!
On our way home, we decided to make a stop in our beloved Lexington just for a brief night, we stayed with some of our best friends, Diane and Kathi. So good to reconnect and have some time together. We enjoyed going to our favorites - Joe B's (pizza) and Culver's (ice cream)!
Diane might as well be our kids third "grandmother" and Kathi, a third "aunt"...because that's how it feels! Hence the chocolate covered donut for breakfast. :)
Family pic on Diane's front porch in sweet ole' Wilmore, KY, such a special place for all of us!
Girls!!
It was such a fun week all together, I enjoyed reading, walking, and swimming everyday. It was a nice "vacation" from the regular routine. Thanks Memaw and Papaw for a great week!
As always, thanks for stopping!
More to come...
Love,
Kendra
