Key words are jumping off the pages to me lately. The verses I have been reading have been talking about the very nature of God. That He is the SOURCE and GIVER of hope, patience, encouragement, joy, and peace. It doesn't say, the longer you try, the harder you try you will gain those qualities. It's actually saying that God gives and is the source for hope, patience, encouragement, joy, and peace. So often I think if I do this one thing better, then I will be more content, more joyful, more peaceful. If I try, try, try, x + y = obviously z; but it's actually the exact opposite, what seems so difficult is actually so simple, yet so difficult for our very human nature. Letting go, becoming aware, and recognizing that it is God within us, the Holy Spirit within us that makes us holy, and more like Him. Where else could hope, patience, encouragement, joy, and peace come from? These are definitely not natural human tendencies, right? FOR SURE NO!! It is God, not ourselves, that gives us peace and joy like nothing we can ever imagine. So why do we keep trying? Why do we keep striving? That's the question, if we know we have this power available to us, then why don't we allow this power to change us, transform us into who He desires us to be. That is where the journey lies, the journey is seeking Him in every area of our lives to bring freedom to the things that bind us down whether it's bitterness, anger, un-forgiveness, sadness, loneliness, unfair circumstances, pain, emotional and physical disease. The power is in the journey where God himself, when we allow Him, is there revealing himself and his nature to us every step of the way. Romans 15: 4-5, 13
May you receive from the Giver of all things - God himself who desires to give to us daily - hope, patience, encouragement, joy, and peace. May you find your source of strength through God, the Holy Spirit within you. As always, thanks for stopping!
